This tape was released in the late 90's (1996, 1998?) in support of political prisoners active in animal liberation. Many German bands, but also Swiss, Swedish, French. The register is rather hardcore (oldschool or metal), sometimes screamo, sometimes intense, and in a DIY spirit.

This is a band from Czech Republic. They released this record in 2004. Only this record I think. Another band (from Quebec) have the same name, but play black-metal. Our band NUIT play post-hardcore with metal, ambiant or sludge feeling, in the way of NEUROSIS.

POSESSION: anoxia - CD

Un CD qui date de 2001 pour ce groupe d’Espagne. Musicalement c'est très sombre et metal, un mélange d'emoviolence, de chaotic hardcore et de grosses riffailles métallique. Un style intense et strident, avec un chant hurlé sur un mur de guitare. Dans la lignée de MORSER, ACME, JANE et pas mal de combo Allemand qu'on trouvait sur Per Koro rds à l'époque. V/A: masters of brutality vol 2 - K7

Second volume sorti la même année, 1992, toujours chez Fnac! Et ouais! Le principe est le même, une compilation de death-metal international, avec cette fois plus de nombreux seconds couteaux, et une ouverture sur des sonorités plus large, comme le doom/death. Moins marquante que la première, mais de grosse tueries comme BRUTAL TRUTH, CATHEDRAL, DISMEMBER, NAPALM, PARADISE LOST, NOCTURNUS ou  DEICIDE. L'artwork est toujours signé D Grrr, mais pas de livret explicatif cette fois.

V/A: masters of brutality vol 1 - K7

Yep, super K7 acheter en 1992. Grosse excitation pour le jeune hardos que j'étais. Car c'était la première fois que j’allais écouter du death-metal! Jusqu'alors je me contentais des chroniques lus dans Hard-Rock magazine ou Hard Force. J'avais déjà gouter au thrash avec EXODUS, ANTHRAX et SEPULTURA. J'allais enfin accéder à la brutalité! On y trouve tous les cadors du death, ainsi que quelques petits nouveaux. Des références comme DEATH, MORBID ANGEL, OBITUARY ou NAPALM DEATH. Mais aussi LOUDBLAST, MASTER, CARCASS, ENTOMBED... Voyez le tracklist plus bas. Les morceaux de DISMEMBER, MORGOTH, CANNIBAL CORPSE ou GRAVE m'ont bien marqués. Je me revois encore en train de lire et relire le petit livret avec les bios et infos des groupes. Notez le super artwork de Denis Grrr. Bref, super souvenir que je partage avec plaisir!

Encore un groupe des 90's, des USA, dans un registre metal indus façon NINE INCH NAILS. Bien efficace, et je garde un bon souvenir de leur passage au Café Charbon à Nevers, en 1996 ou 95. Le genre de truc qui me mettait en transe à l'époque, la binouze aidant, haha! Rare sur le web!

ENGINES OF AGGRESSION - inhuman nature - CD

On reste dans les 90's avec ce groupe ricain, dans un genre de metal alternatif où se croise l'indus, le grunge, du gros rock lourd et tout ça quoi. C'était plutôt bon en fait, et ça a bien vieilli je trouve.

V/A: crossover - CD

Yep, chouette compile que j'avais en K7 à l'époque. Sortie en 1993 par la Fnac, elle représente un peu mon passage entre le hardrock et le punk/hc. Comme son nom l'indique, cette compile regroupe divers groupe crossover, pas dans le style thrashcore, mais plus dans la mélange entre le metal et le hardcore, avec aussi un peu de fusion, de l'indus, du metal alternatif. On y trouve SOD, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, ALICE IN CHAINS, BIOHAZARD, BURNING HEADS, BAD RELIGION, ROLLINS BAND, CROMAGS, TREPONEM PAL... Bien cool donc. Merci au père Nasty pour la copie du CD (et c'est valable pour les deux post suivants)

V/A: brutal generation - 2 x CD

Hop, un peu beaucoup de gros metal!! Je me rappel à l'époque (1995), j'étais très impatient de chopper ce double CD. Je crois bien que c'était au Club Dial, haha! Cette compilation était consacrée à divers groupes de musique brutale uniquement Français, confirmés ou bien plus undergound. On reste principalement dans le metal, mais avec une bonne ouverture d'esprit, vu que certains groupes étaient plus proche de la scène noise (PORTBELLO BONES ou encore KILL THE THRILL). Pas mal de death, du thrash, ainsi que du metal-indus, ou plus groove/fusion sur les bords. Y'avait des très bons trucs. Le son bien sec fait typiquement années 90's! Bon headbanging!

KNOCKOUTZ: s/t - 7"

A la fin des années 90's, la scène hardcore Française était très active, mais divisée en deux camps distinct. D'un coté la branche plus diy et politisée, musicalement proche de l'emo/screamo et du fast hardcore. De l'autre, une branche plus musicale et axé sur la scène ou les crews, influencée par le hardcore ricain, tendance NYHC, newschool ou oldschool. Deux manières de voir le hardcore, mais un réel activisme de chaque coté, avec nombreux groupes, demo, zines... Pas mal de régions avaient leur crew et leurs groupes. KNOCKOUTZ c'était le Crosnes Hardcore Krew! Crosnes étant une commune de l'Essone. Je crois qu'ils avaient sorti une demo avant cet unique EP. Du hardcore newschool ultra métallique, avec une aura assez sombre. Des noms comme DARKSIDE NYC ou NEGLECT devraient coller, avec des plans plus mélodiques qui rappel le METALLICA de "and justice for all"! Un peu trop mielleux dans le chant clair! En fait, c'est loin d'être génial, mais je le garde uniquement pour la pochette trop kawaii!!

OPPOSITION PARTY: chaotic years 1989-1995 - CD

Encore un vieux groupe de Singapour qui a débuter dans le milieu des années 80's. Ce CD regroupe des morceaux de 7", K7, demo... Une sorte de best-of discographique! Ils jouaient un genre de punk brut et ouvertement teinté de vieux thrash-metal. Mais ça reste bien primitif, quelque part entre le vieux Japcore et GBH!
