This compilation was released in 1999 and was in benefit at the Brazilian squat Payoll. There are 7 bands (Germany, Belgium, USA, Brazil), in a wild punk/hardcore register. With FAULTER, DIAVOLO ROSSO, SPINEBENDER, WUTENTBRANNT, DIFEKTO, REVOLTE, and SEUCHENHERD.

A rather discreet band that didn't release much, except for an album, and also this EP in 2001. The band was from the USA (Massachusetts), and played good fast and nervous hardcore, between fastcore and oldschool HC. The cover was designed by Michael Bukowski.

Two groups, two continents. CAD are from Slovakia, and DISCHORD were from Brazil. Both play grindcore, more or less punk, more or less crust, but always wild. This split was released in 2002.

There are two tracks of WHAT'S WRONG (oldschool HC, France), one track for SKOL hardcore intense from Luxembourg), one track for PHILIPPE (Germany, kind of post-hc), and one track also for PETROGRAD (still from Luxembourg, and in an emo style)

A heavy and fat split EP, released in 1997. On one side 3 tracks of BLACK ARMY JACKET (USA) which mixes dirty hardcore, fast grind and creeping sludge. On the other side, CORRUPTED (from Japan) with a long dark and disgusting sludge/doom track.

Only EP released in 1998 for this band from Germany, whose members also played in LOXIRAN or ENFOLD. It plays on the same intensity. A kind of screamed hardcore, sometimes very fast, sometimes more tortured. It sounds less metal than other bands of the same wave.

A Swedish band that released a lot of stuff between 1995 and 2016. This EP is from 1996, on Sludge rds. It plays like the Finns, very fast and furious hardcore punk. Scandicore attack!

Split dating from 1999 on Genet rds. Two bands with similarities in their respective emo styles. LEIAH are from Sweden, with members of SERENE. Emo that is both sad and catchy. HEBRIANA are from Belgium, and propose post-hc DC style influences in their emo.

We stay in Brussels with this band, whose first CD was released in 1999. Another album followed later, and there are also demos. This band played really metal hardcore, but strong in melody and emotional intensity. For fans of FACEDOWN or MORNING AGAIN.

A band from Brussels, whose hardcore had a much more melodic approach, compared to their metalXedge colleagues. A little SHORTSIGHT side sometimes, with a post-hc touch too. It was released in 1997. They didn't release much else.

KRUTCH / STORMCORE : split - 7"

 

This split was released in 1997 on Inner Rage rds. On one side we find KRUTCH from Pennsylvania (USA) who plays good hardcore influenced by NYHC, and on the other side we find the famous French (from Rennes) STORMCORE and their hardcore metal.

Two more bands from this very active metal-edge scene of the late 90's in Belgium. This split EP was released in 1999. It plays good hardcore metal, borderline deathcore, between ARKANGEL and LIAR, there is a place for them. KOMBAT released more stuff, RAPTURE just have a demo and this record.

The band was from the USA, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They didn't release much. This EP is from 1998, on Cartel rds. There are 4 tracks of big, muscular hardcore, very NYHC inspired. Nothing new but it's efficient.

NEGATE : between anger and pain - CD

 

This is a band from Belgium that I listened to a lot. Their demo was a good kill, and this first CD (released in 1998) is a real head turner. Very metal and aggressive hardcore, close to the sound of H8000 Crew but with a little something extra. Then the band evolved towards an even more metal style.

ASFIXIA : s/t - 7"

 

Asfixia was a hardcore band from Bilbao (Basque Country) active between 2005 and 2007.
Musically influenced by the emocrust/neocrust and the screamo of the '00s (Ekkaia, Tragedy, Envy) but also by the '90s emotive hc-punk-crust (Anomie, Lost World, Unhinged). Politically by the vegan/anarchist/anti-industrial ideas. This 7" was make in 2006
