DROWNING / RESTRAIN : split - 7"

 

An EP released in 1998 by Back Ta Basic rds. We start with the Parisians (France) of DROWNING and their dark hardcore very inspired by the deathcore wave. Later on, they will play pure death-metal. After we find the Americans (Queens, NY) of RESTRAIN, who didn't release much. They played a very brutal and groovy NYHC.

First EP released in 1998 for this band from the USA (Erie), aligning all the clichés of the hard branch of the straight-edge movement. Their hardcore newschool is close to the beginnings of EARTH CRISIS. The gang released several albums, and later formed xDISCIPLEx AD.

A weak discography but a strong reputation for this band from Rennes (France), with members of STORMCORE, UNDERGROUND SOCIETY, STRAIGHT UP (from KDS Crew). This EP was released in 1997 and offers two tracks of very metallic and dark hardcore, worthy of the first deathcore wave.

First EP for this band from New Jersey (USA) released in 1996. Hardcore metal all in muscle MERAUDER style, having released several albums. Very active in the 90's, the band is still in da game.

An EP released in 2003 for this band from the USA (NY) and who didn't release much else. There are 11 tracks of wild and snotty punk/hardcore as we like it, with good speed peaks.

The Sweden of ASSEL are still as furious in terms of powerviolence, on this split EP released in 2001, accompanied on the other side by the Germans of SECOND THOUGHT, who are rather in the very direct fastcore.

THE TANGLED LINES / DICK CHENEY : split - 7"

 

A record released in 2005, with on one side THE TANGLED LINES (from Germany) and on the other side DICK CHENEY (Sweden). Both bands play in their own way fast and wild hardcore, with a female vocal on the German side. The Swedes have a more aggressive style.

On one side the Floridians of MORNING AGAIN and their hardcore metal passion, and on the other side the New Yorkers of 25 TA LIFE and their NYHC perfect for the pit. Split EP released in 1997 on the Conspiracy label. The two bands have similarities. Post-hardcore with more or less noisy, metal, even crust touches. UPSET was from Germany, while RUBBISH HEAP was from Belgium.

A small split released in 1998 on Diabolik rds. LEGITIME DEFONCE was from Toulouse, France, and played a very melodic and catchy punk. CRANK was from Sydney, Australia, quite similar, a bit more melodic hardcore. Both bands have released several EPs and albums.

A very short career for this band from Sweden, having released this EP and two other splits. This one is from 2000. We find a furious mixture of wild fastcore, and grind accelerations. A bit like a powerviolence version of DS13. Perfect!

A band from Vienna, Austria, having released this single EP and a demo. It dates from 1999. The band played quite emotional and melodic hardcore metal, close to bands like SHAI HULUD for example.

Another record from the German emopop wave, in the late 90's. This split was released in 1999. MAGGAT on one side, very nice and catchy emo, on the other side 125 RUE MONTMARTRE, much more pop and calm emo.

First release (1996) for this band from Sacramento, California. The band has a very extensive discography, with many albums. HOODS is good frontal hardcore, very NYHC without sounding too metal either.
